Catching Up

It's been a while since I posted... somehow the entire month of June has passed without an entry. It was a busy month, but a fun one. Some highlights:

K1 turned 4. FOUR. I can't believe it. I just want it all to slow down. I'm very glad that there isn't a seismic shift in size or attitude or capabilities just by having a birthday. I think it would make it that much harder if suddenly K1 started acting completely different than his 3-year-old self. I find I am the same way with my children as I've always been with myself... reluctant to turn one year older, yet loving that stage/age even more than the last. So even though I know that each year that passes means a year out of childhood, I also realize that each year that comes brings such excitement, wonder and adventure that I can hardly be disappointed. I wonder what the magic number 4 will bring to us this year?

We spent some quality time with Auntie G and Uncle D... one evening we had a joyous time playing the Great American Pasttime.

Everyone got in on the act, that is until Uncle D's grand slam homerun (well it would have been if it hadn't hit that post) broke the ball in half.

I wonder if they worry about these things in the majors?

My best friend since high school came to visit, bringing along her 5-year-old daughter to play with K-squared. We had fun doing what we do best -- shopping, relaxing, entertaining the kids with fun activities and seeing a show. Always good to spend time with her.

And finally, we made our annual trek to the Renaissance Festival, and dragged along some friends and family. A good time was had by all, which is not hard to do considering the vast amounts of diverse sights, sounds, smells and really crazy weirdos. After all,

where else can you ride an elephant, a camel, a hugely oversized rocking horse,
throw tomatoes at some poor soul in stocks, eat a giant turkey leg, watch knights jousting on horses, and witness more breast-popping cleavage than you can count, all in one day? It's a not-to-miss event.
